The Lecture Room & Library at sketch has recently been awarded its first Michelin star in the 2005 edition of the annual Michelin Great Britain & Ireland guide.

However accomplished a chef may be, however much passion a restaurateur may feel, however their vision may come together, it is rare indeed for all these elements to be combined with adequate capital to create a restaurant untainted by compromise. It has happened at sketch, which is elegant, playful, sophisticated and luxurious, and peopled by clientele who fit that description equally well. Set behind a large though discreet Grade II listed Georgian façade, the first floor of sketch has been designed by Gabhan O'Keefe to resemble a fabulous French drawing room.
The Lecture Room is ideal for lunch and dinner not confined by the conventions of international cuisine. A convivial meal shared by partners working on a big project, an introduction to first rate creative cooking, for everyone who likes to enjoy new discoveries. The menu devised by chef extraordinaire Pierre Gagnaire offers a unique breadth of ingredients and complexity of combinations. For instance, the starter of langoustines is actually four different dishes, including raw ones with green mango and grapefruit granite, mousseline with sweet butter and passion fruit, grilled with pear juice and mangoustan, and roasted 'Little Bay' with Shanghai cabbage and lentils. The main course of Angus beef filet and Sevruga caviar served with blinis and cream potatoes with olive oil is a gastronomic delight. And when you order dessert, you order all seven of Pierre Gagnaire Grand Desserts. There are many amuse-bouches too. The wine list is equally elevated.
Please note that sketch Lecture Room & Library only takes bookings up to 3 months in advance. Should you request a booking further in advance to this, your booking confirmation will be delayed.
Cancellation Policy - 24 hours notice is required for cancellations. £25 per person will be charged for late cancellation of lunch and dinner reservations, and £50 per person for no-shows of lunch and dinner reservations.
A credit card is required to secure a reservation, if there is availability - this is simply to secure your booking, absolutely no money will be charged to the card except in the case of late cancellations.
The Lecture Room - Late cancellations (within 24 hours of the reservation) will incur a charge of £25 per person for lunch reservations, and £50 per person dinner reservations. No shows will incur a charge of £50 for lunch and £100 for dinner reservations. There is a 2 hour turnover on all tables.
