I’m five days into this parking malarkey. I can quite definitely say that of all the things I saw myself doing, parking, in all it’s non-glamour, was never one. I’ve already officially become a pay-and-display and yellow line guru, completely up-to-date with the latest parking scam to hit some part of the country (which happens to involve a man in Ilford who got ticketed as he lay in the road with a broken leg after having been knocked off his motorbike).
We’ve had a couple of big and exciting meetings over the past two days. They’ve both taken place in the centre of London and we’ve driven to our local underground station and used public transport to get into town. On both days, the station car park has been choc-full and we’ve wished we already had spaces being advertised around it so we didn’t need to worry about running late because of station parking.
The time will come!

So after two days on the job…
Now I understand why we’ve hardly clapped eyes on Ant for the past two months and why he’s looked a bit bleary-eyed when we have! The poor boy has been getting about four hours of sleep a night for the past two weeks. That’s partly because of the insane amount of work he’s had to do to get ParkatmyHouse.com up and running and partly because he’s a typical techie night owl.

I wouldn’t usually talk about myself like this. In fact as a blog novice, it feels a bit bizarre. But I’m all for dabbling in new things so here we go.
First things first, I’ve known Ant since we were sixteen. Neither of us can remember exactly how, where or when we met but we’ve lived round the corner from each other for most of our lives.
Ant’s always been a genius when it comes to technology and he’s got an entrepreneurial light bulb for a brain. He’s forever bouncing ideas off us and getting us to test his latest online creation.
But he’s not really a marketing bod.
So whilst Ant deals with the mySQL, XML and AJAX side of things (computer programming languages), I’m here to look after marketing amongst other things. It’s my job to position the company – in other words, to determine who we are and what we’re about – and to promote the company both online and offline.
To give you a couple of examples, the new design of ParkatmyHouse.com and the writing on it will be my doing. I’m also going to get stuck into the oodles of research we need to do about the parking industry and mobilise a big publicity machine to coincide with and announce the launch of the revamped site in a few months time.
I’ve got a bit of creative streak and ParkatmyHouse.com is the perfect excuse to spill some creative beans.
There, that wasn’t too bad as far as blogging goes.

Another busy week has come and gone. Slightly less eventful than last week but Park at my House.com has expanded from being a one man band to a trio. I would like to welcome Katie Harvey and on a part time basis Jonathan Gross to the PAMH team. Katie has been a friend of mine since I was 17 and not only did we go to school five minutes away from each other, we also now live 2 roads away. I think she enjoys the commute in the morning! Jonathan on the other hand, I have known since I was 13 - we went to school together. Running a company on your own is near impossible and I would like to thank them both for their hard work and support so far.
I now have three desks, 4 computers, 2 printers, 2 scanners, 1 web cam and 1 high powered fan in my bedroom. No wonder I am finding it hard to relax at the moment, I am sleeping in my office. It is very strange having people knocking on your door at 9am in the morning wanting to work when you’re still fast asleep.
I have had a few e-mails from users who have had difficulties and technical problems. The first release of Park at my House.com had some very advanced features which allowed data to be sent to your computer in the most efficient way. Unfortunately due to a compatibility issue, many of you were unable to take advantage of these features and received errors instead. I hope these problems have now been resolved. Please contact me if you are still having difficulties.
Publicity wise, things are still going well. Park at my House.com now has over 400 registered users and over 200 parking spaces registered on the site. We want that to keep growing so that no matter where you are in the country, someone somewhere will have a place to park when you need a space.
I will do my best to update this blog more frequently.

Yesterday we celebrated our 2 week anniversary and we are still learning what all our users want to see on our site. If you have time please reply to this e-mail with any suggestions, complaints, requests or to report any bugs you have found on the site. We are always trying to improve your experience.
Here is a list of some of the new features and updates I have done on the site over the past few days.
- Increased security with regards to users contacting advertisers - people who want to rent a space will now have to register to contact advertisers.
- An online messaging system - track all your correspondence with our simple messaging system which is now accessible in your user control panel. Now you don’t have to reveal your e-mail address to anybody.
- We have added over 150 universities and colleges to our database of searchable locations.
- The Park at my House Blog - Stay up to date with all the new features and goings on with the web site and with the media.
As you may have noticed, we have an extensive database of local businesses, restaurants, pubs, bars, hotels and much more. If you would like your business listed please send us an e-mail with as much information about your business as possible.
I will post tomorrow with some more interesting information on how this exciting adventure has continued in the real world.
Thank you for supporting this new idea and good luck with your parking!

Today I am due to appear on the Morning Show at WJIM radio in Lansing, Michigan. Although this is not my first appearance on US Radio after my previous two interviews in Salt Lake City and also in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, it is the first interview since the US site has become operational.
Within the next couple of weeks we aim to add a new and very exciting feature to Park at my House.com. If you want to hear about all the latest updates you can subscribe to our newsletter on our front page.
